Why 16:9 and exact ratios matter
Roblox crops or letterboxes anything that is not the expected aspect ratio, which is how thumbnails end up with heads cut off or black bars. Always export at the exact ratio: 16:9 for thumbnails, 1:1 for icons. If you render at 4K (3840×2160), that is still 16:9 and downscales perfectly.
